LearnHigher Room
16 January 2008
The brand-new LearnHigher room in the Carrington Building was opened today at an event organised by the university’s study advisors. I was invited along to the event to see the work of the LearnHigher CETL (Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning) in helping students to study effectively.
Kim Shahabudin, study advisor, talked about finding new methods of helping students through study at university, including helping with time management and writing skills, especially with reports and dissertations coming up soon. She also displayed the group’s new helpsheets, including leaflets on revision techniques and time management and a fold-out year planner for students, all available from the Carrington Building.
The LearnHigher room is room 104 on the first floor of the Carrington Building. It is available to book by staff and groups of students and ideal for group meetings and small seminar groups. It features a light and airy atmosphere as well as 6 desk-integrated computers and a widescreen TV.
